When doing a straight axle swap on a 2nd gen Tacoma you will need to modify the firewall plate that the steering shaft goes through. The stock shaft goes straight down to the rack whereas the new shaft will need to go out to a steering box. This will change the location of where the shaft comes out of this plate.
We have done the hard work for you and made our 2nd gen Tacoma steering shaft firewall plate that will bolt in place of the stock plate and locate the shaft right where you need it. We also use a factory Toyota bushing to keep everything sealed up and squeak free!
Minor trimming of the upper section of the factory hole in firewall will be needed. This is most easily done with a body saw.
